It has been eight years since the first remake of Mexican Telenovela MariMar Hits the country portrayed by real-life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.

Now, Kapuso Network GMA-7 decided to "re-remake" the series and this time the role of Sergio will be portrayed by hunk actor Tom Rodriguez.
Rodriguez is very excited for this new project that has been entrusted to him by GMA. In a story conference that was held on June 22, Tom said that he was very surprised, excited, and very honored that it felt so unreal. He's also feeling the pressure of portraying the role that was once portrayed by Dingdong Dantes.
It was also reported that Tom will be working with Miss World 2013 Megan Young who'll be the new MariMar.

"I really feel blessed. Mas nakakabawas ng kaba at takot kasi I’ve worked with her before. At least we already have a great working relationship." Tom said.
Joining Tom and Maegan in the series are veteran actors and actresses Jaclyn Jose, Ricardo Cepeda, and Carmi Martin. Maegan's sister, Lauren Young, also joins the casts.
The new MariMar will be shown on GMA network this coming August.
